Each Earth Day, we can see many blog posts that feature crafts and activities kids can do to celebrate the day. These are lots of fun and good learning opportunities. However, why is it important to care about the environment? There are some lessons our kids should know.

The earth we live provides natural services for humans and all other species that are essential to our health, quality of life and survival. Clean air, water, plants, and food supplies are essential for our personal health. Just as our actions and choices affect the environment, the health of the planet influences our own personal health, as well as our communities, and families.

At One for Health, our founder Tom Miller believes that maintaining a healthy lifestyle means making the right choices every day. It is important to be aware of stress and the adverse impact our environment subjects all of us to. Research indicates that just being around greenery can boost mood and lower blood pressure, as well as improve attention and the ability to reflect upon a problem. Thus, let’s teach your little environmentalist about the global earth day and show them the tips of saving the planet!

Show them
Set an example for your kids with your actions. They won't care about the environment if you don't too. And all it takes are some small, easy adjustments to lead by example.
Teach them
To help kids understand their actions do have an impact on the environment, there are plenty of ways to teach them — be it via magazines, books or movies. The following are great tips to start.
  1. Recycle with purpose! Not all plastics are created equal and recycling takes some degree of effort. The good thing is that if this awareness is created early and turned into a habit, recycling becomes a breeze!
  2. Use paper on both sides and make use of scrap paper. With the abundance of personal printers, this becomes very important. Young kids love to doodle, show them how to do this more effectively by using paper on both sides.
  3. Encourage taking shorter showers. Warm water can be so mesmerizing. A waterproof shower clock is a great environmentally conscious investment that helps your kids to stop taking 40-minute showers.
Join them
Of course, by heading outside and taking action, your kids will have a blast taking a more hands-on approach to helping the environment.

Earth Day shouldn't be a one-day event only on April 22nd. Teach your kids that protecting our planet is an everyday commitment. Let us protect the planet, on earth day and every day!

Though you might not expect it, the area of the Cotswolds in the UK is a great place to go for spas, beauty treatments, and general relaxation. With the influx of celebrities over the last several years, many luxury hotels have popped up in the area, some of which offer traditional spa services and more.

Since my children are young I've been teaching them how to care for the environment. I remember the first thing I taught them was not to throw their garbage anywhere they want. I taught them to segregate their garbage into bio and non-bio degradable and put them in the proper disposal. I also told them to limit their use of plastics. As long as they can help it do not use anything that is plastic. Plastics cause harmful effects in nature. My children are to be proud of because they know their responsibilities towards our environment.
